چکیده

Most traffic delays in regional evacuations occur at intersections. Lane-based routing is one strategy for reducing these delays. This paper presents a network flow model for identifying optimal lane-based evacuation routing plans in a complex road network. The model is an integer extension of the minimumcost flow problem. It can be used to generate routing plans that trade total vehicle travel-distance against merging, while preventing traffic crossing-conflicts at intersections. A mixed-integer programming solver is used to derive optimal routing plans for a sample network. Manual capacity analysis and microscopic traffic simulation are used to compare the relative efficiency of the plans. An application is presented for Salt Lake City, Utah. 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. Reliability Analysis of Evacuation Routes Under Capacity Uncertainty of Road Links

In this paper, we present a reliability based evacuation route planning model that seeks to find the relationship between the clearance time, number of evacuation paths and congestion probability during evacuation. Most of the existing models for network evacuation assume deterministic capacity estimates for road links without taking into account the uncertainty in capacities induced by myriad ...

Integrated Evacuation Network Optimization and Emergency Vehicle Assignment

The core idea of integrating the treatment of lane reversals and crossing elimination in evacuation network design is illustrated by the examples in Figure 1, which show how controlling lane entries and turning movements at intersections can create uninterrupted flow conditions for specific evacuation paths. The intersections must be expanded into subnetworks, as shown in Figure 2, to model an ...

Although both have proven reasonably effective as capacity-increasing measures (for accelerating the evacuation process), their combination can enhance performance further. Solving this design problem with lane reversal and crossing elimination, however, poses a great challenge, because of the complex mutual connectivity requirement imposed by the ...
